2-weeks ago we hosted an internal Localhost Exploration Day – LED 2018. It is hackathon-style session, but not focused only on coding and thus dedicated only for tech people, but also on bringing up any bright idea to make life in our company better and easier.
This year we put emphasis on fintech domain, where our product portfolio is aimed at and where we have long term partnerships. So, what did we come up with and what are the outcomes?
I would like to highlight the work of 2 teams, that worked on robo-advised tradings “tweaks” (actually more like completely new way of thinking  ). As you probably know from our fintech web (fintech.localhost.company) it is one of our 3 fintech product and services pillars, thus it was even more interesting for me.
First team focused on our traditional robo-advised trading on FOREX and tried to find out correlations between trades and various types of cyclical events. Not going too much into the subject, I must say that this out-of-box approach looks very promising and it is the next step for us in implementing rule-based trading advisors.
Second team came up with even more non-orthodox idea – to correlate contextual data with crypto exchange trades and try to predict where we will get in near and distant future with BTC, ETH and so on. Together with AI involved, it again, gave us promising results and it is worth scaling up the idea and implementing it widely in our fintech products.
In conclusion, I must say, that I was really overwhelmed by how much talent is hidden in our people and how much potential they have. Sometimes they just really need an impulse and a little bit of a time to bring their ideas to life … and that’s the main purpose of our LED!
